NOMADS IMPRO - Collective movement improvisations and flash mob actions

In winter 2016 I set up Nomads Impro, a regular public flash mob open to anyone to join in. This was part of continuing Mesh research, this time questioning how to create an accessible and inclusive movement score for anyone to enjoy and that could allow passers by to join in at any time.

Nomads Impro meets once a month in different public spaces. It welcomes everyone! And as many people as possible!

Each month we explore a movement score that relates to: Physical, playful, sociable, peaceful and constructive rituals of togetherness; Collective, inclusive and collaborative behaviours; Experiencing environments through our senses and physicality; Reading, relating and responding to an environment; Mindful navigating and getting lost through the city; Re-imagining new forms of marches, demos and collective presence in public spaces.

On the 20th Feb we were invited to be part of One Day Without us national day of strike action in support of freedom of movement, migration and cultural diversity. We helped facilitate a moving human chain which then became a wondering linked group dance.
